Chinese tech giants,The Swingin’ Stewardesses including Alibaba and Tencent, along with ByteDance, donated a total of over RMB 370 million to northern China, which was heavily hit by rare flooding after typhoon Doksuri made landfall in the country. Both Tencent and TikTok owner ByteDance announced on Wednesday that they would each donate RMB 100 million to flood-hit areas, while e-commerce titan Alibaba and PDD pledged RMB 30 million to support affected individuals. US coffee chain Starbucks also announced an RMB 1 million donation to the capital Beijing and neighboring cities on Tuesday night. Additionally, Tencent and ByteDance, the parent companies of social media products with hundreds of millions of daily users, provided technical and channel support for the affected individuals to seek help online during the rare downpour, demonstrating their corporate social responsibility.
